Alternate Player Character Art Unlocked

You just unlocked a stretch goal before you knew it was a stretch goal! The player cards will now be double-sided with a male and female character options on either side.

I've made some strides with the artwork. To see how the characters are coming along, check out the "Player Card Progress" thread on the BGG Forum.

We're super excited to add this shimmering touch to the king's resting place. Metallic ink is printed directly on the box wrap and it binds with the paper to create a durable gold finish that won't rub off. To see an example of metallic ink, check out the Arboretum box.

Crypt will be absolute perfection once this is unlocked. There will be no more stretch goals after this one.

New Social Goal: Co-Op Variant

So we had a number of people ask about a 2-Player Cooperative variant of Crypt and, to be honest, initially we thought it was a ridiculous idea. But then we figured it was worth a try and HOLY COW IT WAS REALLY FUN! It's kind of a hybrid between the Only Child solo variant and the Clash of the Twins team variant.

Let us know if the Cooperative variant is something you're interested in. If the R2i Games Facebook page gets 1600 Likes, we'll polish it and write up the rules.

 New Social Goal: Soundtrack

A couple months ago we made a pilot episode for a video series we're calling House Rules, where we find interesting fan-made variants of popular games and test them out! Subscribe to our YouTube Channel if you'd like to see more videos like this, and in return we'll make a soundtrack to set the stage while you play Crypt.

Whew that was a doozy of an update! Much Love,

Solo Variant Rules, Updated Designs
about 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 19, 2018 at 10:21:59 PM

Pledge level broke $100,000!

This campaign has been successful beyond our wildest dreams and escalated so quickly that we actually hit all the upgrades from our initial manufacturing quote. Now we're waiting on the manufacturer to send us an updated quote with new upgrade possibilities. Once we see the pricing of everything we'll post new stretch goals.

Only Child (Solo Variant) Rules v2.0

We updated the rules for what we're calling the "Only Child" variant. Check out the latest Rules on Board Game Geek. We'd love to get your input to help improve clarity.

Andrew will be playing Only Child live on Kickstarter Wednesday at 7pm CST. So come back to the campaign page to see it in action!

Updated Card Designs

After getting some great feedback from gaming events and the comment section, we made some improvements to the Treasure & Collector Cards including revised icons and dice spaces.

The Greedy Siblings

Lastly, I just posted the updated Player Card artwork. So take a look and see how it's coming along. Let me know what you think!

That's all for now! Much Love,

Spot UV unlocked, Dice stretch goal discussion

C2E2: Day One

It was a wild and crazy first day teaching Crypt and Road To Infamy non-stop to C2E2 attendees! Though it's only been a day, my feet are already aching and I'm losing my voice. Giant Road To Infamy was a big hit and we got a bunch of new folks added to the Crypt backer family. Stay tuned for tons of pictures and video from the weekend.

Stretch Goal Unlocked: Spot UV

Another new feature added to the box is spot UV. For those unsure of what that is, it's a glossy sheen added to small sections of the box to make certain features pop. Here's an example of the effect. I'm thinking we'll add some shine to the title, banner, and flowers. What do you think would look nice?

Social Goal Update

Thanks to everyone who jumped on the social goal! We're now only 50 Facebook Page Likes away from unlocking the 6 & 8-player team variant. If you haven't yet, head on over to our Facebook Page.

Let's Talk Dice

I've been reading the comments about the marbled dice and gold pips stretch goals and there's lots of different ideas and opinions. I googled "marbled dice" and "gold pips" and mostly found really butt-ugly dice, so I totally get where some of you are coming from. I thought it might be helpful if I shared my own thoughts and vision for the dice. I like a very subtle marble texture with some gold accents that give the dice a royal, ancient treasure look. I hate marbling with too much color variety. I'm not totally decided on the four dice colors, but I'm thinking crimson, teal, slate, and bone white.

But we want to hear YOUR thoughts. What do you think would look the best?

Social Goal Unlocked: Embossed Box

Crypt hit 1,000 Fans on Board Game Geek!!! Thanks to you, Crypt is now #3 on BGG's Hotness ranking, which puts us on the homepage and increases the visibility of the project. We're hoping this will give the campaign some serious momentum.

To maintain this momentum, we encourage you to move your feedback and discussions to the BGG Forums.

6 & 8-Player Variant

We just wrapped up a long weekend of playtesting the 6 & 8-player variant. We brought it to Protospiel Milwaukee and a Chicago game designer event and got a lot of great feedback. We're experimenting and fine tuning the number of cards, number of rounds, and alternate dice recovery rules so that everything runs as smooth as possible with more players. It's coming along really well, so we will be sharing the first draft of the rules with you in the coming week.

Player Card Art Progress

I've started illustrations for the player cards. Right now they're still in the sketch phase, but you can follow along as I'm posting WIP artwork in the BGG Forum. I'd love to get your input on how the four playable characters look.

That's all for now! Much love,

Jeff & Andrew
